Behind the Scenes with Casey Perez from Artifacts NYC

Artifacts is an independent jewelry line based in New York City by designer Casey Perez. Consciously designed and locally made, her line of modern, sculptural pieces aims to bring artful design and sustainable craftsmanship together. Modern yet playful, Artifacts is a celebration of form that aims to inspire and delight the woman who wears it.

Born and raised in Texas, Mexican-American designer Casey Perez found her way to jewelry unexpectedly. While studying at NYU, Casey stumbled upon a metalsmithing course as an elective and this is where she learned centuries old jewelry making techniques. The idea of transforming raw materials into creations and the alchemical process is what drew Casey to jewelry. Now she combines her passion for jewelry making with inspiration from architecture, sculpture and even furniture to create her collections.

Check out the video on how she made the Mini Mirage Hoop earrings from her Brooklyn studio!
